With my tail between my legs I waited in the car for my mate to finish the race.
The next day I headed down to West Sussex with my family to visit my in-laws. The weather was stunning and I made the most of it, doing two rides over the South Downs, in beautiful countryside with plenty of rolling hills and wind for good training.
On Wednesday I had another Inter-Corps criterium, this time at Eelmoor, where a 3 man break got away in the final laps. Having to settle for minor placings, I sprinted to get 5th place on the day. It was a fast race, with a strong headwind on the finishing straight, which suited me fine in the sprint as I waited for those that went too early to fade before jumping past them, all but one...
The level of racing by Army cyclists is picking up, with some really strong riders.
Next week is another Army race, then on the 5th of May I'm doing the Stockbridge Down Road Race, which will be a tough day out. Tomorrow I'm going to go have a ride around the route.
